Julie Kaiser portrays Zelda Fitzgerald in “The Last Flapper” Friday, Oct. 23 at Armory Square, a fundraiser for the Headwaters Center for Lifelong Learning. The play, written by William Luce, tells of Zelda’s rebellion as a southern belle, her destructive marriage to F. Scott Fitzgerald and her mental disintegration.

After watching, listening and then individually critiquing eight Class A dramatic productions, a panel of judges rated three of them “starred performances” on Friday, Feb. 14, during the 2014 State One Act Play Festival sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League.

 Park Rapids took 1st place at the 6A Section One Act Play contest Saturday, Feb. 1 in Pequot Lakes. The students will perform “FREAK” by Angela Hill at state competition on Friday, Feb. 14. An open dress rehearsal will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Park Rapids Area High School auditorium. “FREAK” is a fantasy, social drama exploring bullying and its extreme consequences. Though sometimes dark, “FREAK” emphasizes hope.
